I was so excited to read your Transcription Crash Course. I have been keenly interested in transcription, though quite a bit terrified of it, too. While reading your report, I just kept saying, 'Hey! I can do that!' You completely demystified it for me and made it seem like an attainable skill.
The fact that you included an example for us to try just made it seem that much more doable. And it also speaks volumes about your ability to guide those of us interested in pursuing transcription. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this course!

Do it yourself transcription or Hire someone to do it for you?

The decision to transcribe or to hire a transcriber depends on a few things :

  1. How quickly you need it
  2. How much money  you have to spend
  3.  Your available time

Transcribing an audio can take a whole day depending on how long the audio is , the amount of speakers and the language and accent of the speakers.

If  you choose to transcribe audio on your own here are a few tips.
  • Select a quiet area
  • Get good quality headsets
  • Choose a time of the day when  and dedicate your time to it .
  • Do not transcribe and watch tv, attend to children , listen to music or any other things that would distract you .
  • Listen to the audio first to get a feel of the accent and language of the speaker then start transcribing after.
  • After transcribing check for spelling errors then proof read again .
